Customized location based billboard campaign by Intel
The names of people who signed up to the internet linked TV service of Intel through a mobile App, see their names displayed on billboards in Penn Station, New York. As soon as users come in the neighborhood, their name is published on the billboard. Consumers are notified through a text message. The tool goes further than just publishing the name of the consumer. Based upon a short survey people fill out when they use the App for the first time, the content/background of the billboard is personalized as well.
A pretty impressive usage of location based marketing, if you ask me. Some people will question the privacy issues of this story. I guess this is just the world we are living in. Boundaries in privacy are becoming difficult to define. This case clearly shows the great possibilities of advertising in the next few years.
